Amr Al-Aqeed was arrested on December 15, 2012, and he was sentenced to one year. After the expiry of his sentence, he was charged with several new cases after the events of July 2013. Recently, the Court of Cassation upheld the sentence issued against him by the Criminal Court to life imprisonment in the case known in the media as collaborating with Hamas. Al-Aqeed is currently in prison. In the new Badr Central Prison, where he is subjected to abuse there by the prison administration, and news was leaked from there stating that he attempted suicide by cutting the arteries of his hand, and his cell was stripped of its contents, in addition to being subjected in April 2023 to torture, electric shocks, and his placement in the disciplinary room for an attempt His intervention to prevent the assault of a fellow prisoner.
