On the basis of information provided by sources, the Working Group decided to clarify the cases of Mujahid Ashraf Khan Sehrai and Rashed Ashraf Khan Sehrai, who are reportedly in detention in a known location. Joint allegation letter 60. On 12 July 2021, the Working Group transmitted, jointly with other special procedure mechanisms, an allegation letter concerning the reported arrest, torture and death in custody of Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sehrai. Two of his sons, Mujahid Ashraf Khan and Rashed Ashraf Khan, were arrested at his home after the funeral.23 Observation 61. In relation to the aforementioned cases, the Working Group recalls that, under article 10 (2) of the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, accurate information on the detention of such persons and their place or places of detention, including transfers, should be made promptly available to their family members, their counsel or to any other persons having a legitimate interest in the information unless a wish to the contrary has been manifested by the persons concerned. Moreover, in accordance with article 12 (2) of the Declaration, each State should likewise ensure strict supervision, including a clear chain of command, of all law enforcement officials responsible for apprehensions, arrests, detentions, custody, transfers and imprisonment, and of other officials authorized by law to use force and firearms. Indonesia Standard procedure 62. Under its standard procedure, the Working Group transmitted six cases to the Government concerning: (a) A minor who was allegedly arrested on 18 May 2021 together with another minor by members of the Indonesian army in the area of Oksibil, West Papua; (b) A minor who was allegedly arrested on 18 May 2021 together with another minor by members of the Indonesian army in the area of Oksibil, West Papua; (c) Yani Afrie, who was allegedly arrested on 26 April 1997 by members of the Indonesian army in Jakarta; (d) Noval Alkatiri, who was allegedly arrested on 29 May 1997 by unidentified assailants reported to have been affiliated with the Indonesian security services in Jakarta; (e) Suyat, who was allegedly abducted on 12 February 1998 by unidentified assailants reported to have been affiliated with the Indonesian security services in Gemolong, Sragen, Central Java; (f) Sonny Yusuf, who was allegedly arrested on 30 April 1997 by members of the Indonesian armed forces in Jakarta. Observation 63. The Working Group expresses concern about the specific vulnerability of the children who are reported to have been subjected to enforced disappearance. In this regard, the Working Group would like to recall the obligation of the State, under article 20 of the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, to take measures to prevent and suppress the abduction of children.
