The victim was arrested two days after posting a video on his Facebook page. In the video, he had appealed for help regarding the obstructionist behavior of a police officer at Cairo Airport, who had confiscated his ID card, driver's license, and travel itinerary after he refused the officer's demand to drive a specific person into the airport.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution charged him with "joining a terrorist group and spreading false news" in Case No. 4832 of 2026 (State Security Registry).
