The victim worked as an assistant to the President of the Republic for foreign affairs and a prominent leader in the Muslim Brotherhood. He was arrested in July 2013 and tried in connection with the case known in the media as collaborating with Hamas.
The victim was sentenced to life imprisonment, until the sentence was reduced to only 10 years in prison, which he served under numerous violations he suffered in Scorpio and Badr prisons due to his deteriorating health condition and advanced age.
The victim was surprised when he was summoned to be investigated and detained for 15 days pending investigations in Case No. 2215 of 2021, Supreme State Security, after the end of his sentence in the first case.
