Mrs. Magda Ibrahim, 66, was arrested from the street in Ismailia on April 13, 2023, after she posted a video clip on “Twitter” in which she talked about the price hike. Three days later, she appeared at the Supreme State Security Prosecution in Cairo, accused in Case No. 641 of 2023 of the Supreme State Security, accusing her of “misuse of means of communication” and “joining a banned group.” She was imprisoned in Al-Qanater Prison for Women. She suffers from inability to move as a result of severe inflammation of the nerves due to a herniated disc in the back and knee, and problems in her joints. She also suffers from poor psychological conditions inside prison, and her lawyer recently requested that she be transferred to Al-Qanater Hospital for a medical examination.
