On April 4, 2024, security forces arrested activist and workers’ rights defender Ahmed Abdel Fattah Yahya, Assistant Secretary-General of the Trade Union Committee for Employees of the East Delta Transport and Tourism Company and a member of the Committee for the Defense of Trade Union Freedoms and Labor Rights. They took him to an unknown destination and brought him before the Supreme State Security Prosecution, which decided to imprison him. 15 Day pending Case No. 2124 of 2023, charges of “joining a terrorist group” and “spreading false news” were brought against him.
