The victim was arrested on November 1, 2018 while returning from his workplace in Cairo to his residence in the city of Mahalla, and more than a month after his arrest, the Ministry of Interior announced in a video statement that Amr had been arrested and 8 other people who were with him were liquidated for their intention to plan bombings during... Celebrating birthdays.
The victim was tortured and later appeared in a video clip published by the Ministry of Interior in which he made confessions regarding the charges against him and showed signs of torture. He was tried in two different cases until he was acquitted in both cases.
Despite the acquittal in favor of the victim, he was remanded more than once and is still in pre-trial detention pending investigation into a new case.
