The victim, a lawyer and resident of Aswan Governorate, was arrested in early September 2023 from his home in the Kom Ombo area and was subjected to enforced disappearance before being presented to the Supreme State Security Prosecution on September 7 in connection with Case No. 2123 of 2023.

The victim was arrested because he published information on his personal page via the social networking site Facebook about the detention of a police officer working in the Kom Ombo Police Department and his resignation due to his involvement in a crime, which led to his arrest and investigation in connection with a case on charges of spreading false news and joining the Banned group.

Updated September 12, 2023: a decision was issued by the Public Prosecution to release the lawyer based on the intervention of the President of the Bar Association and his meeting with the Public Prosecutor
