The victim works as a journalist. She was arrested on October 3, 2020 in Luxor Governorate while performing her journalistic work covering the killing of Egyptian citizen Owais Al-Rawi at the hands of security forces, known in the media as the Al-Awamiya village case.

The next day, she was investigated by the Supreme State Security Prosecution and charged with joining a terrorist group and spreading false news. A decision was issued to detain her for 15 days pending Case No. 959 of 2020. The Supreme State Security, known to the media, identified the events in the village of Awamiyah, and she was transferred to Al-Qanater prison for women.

A decision was issued by the Public Prosecutor on October 6, 2020, after she was detained for 3 days, to release her pending the case on a financial bail of 2,000 pounds, and she was transferred to the Old Cairo Police Department to complete the release procedures there.
