The victim was arrested on March 6, 2014 from the city of Mansoura, taken to an unknown destination, and subjected to enforced disappearance for a week. On March 12, 2014, he appeared, along with two other young men, in a video broadcast by the Ministry of Interior, making confessions about their involvement in the case known in the media as “the killing of the guard.” They were transferred to the National Security headquarters in Cairo, and then he was transferred to Scorpion Prison until a death sentence was issued against him in July 2016 and the death sentence was upheld in June 2017. Al-Shall is currently in prison suffering from several health violations such as weightlessness, severe dizziness, and tremors in his hand. and difficulty moving his right leg, after a tumor spread in his brain. He had performed cerebellar eradication operations years before his imprisonment, and he lacks health care inside his prison cell.
