The victim was arrested on January 25, 2023 from his home in Alexandria, before being investigated on the 29th of the same month before the Supreme State Security Prosecution.

The victim's lawyers say that he was arrested following his participation in acting and publishing a satirical video clip talking about a girl's visit to her imprisoned fiancé, a video that was later known as the “Al-Khasheba video.”

The victim was investigated, along with two of his fellow participants in the video clip, including a girl, in connection with Case No. 184 of 2023, Supreme State Security, on charges of spreading false news and joining and financing a terrorist group.

On October 2, 2023, the Supreme State Security Prosecution issued a decision to release the victim pending the case.
