On February 1, 2021, Ahmed was arrested from the Fifth Settlement Police Department, where he was summoned for interrogation and forcibly disappeared for 5 days until he appeared pending Case No. 65 of 2021 on charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and misusing social media. He is also accused pending Case No. 744 of 2021 Emergency State Security Misdemeanor First Settlement. He was sentenced on June 22, 2021 to 4 years in prison and a fine of 500 Egyptian pounds. He received a republican pardon in July 2022 and was released. It is reported that he is not allowed to travel from the country until now.
