He was arrested on February 5, 2016 from a friend's farm in Ismailia and was taken to one of the National Security headquarters in Zagazig and remained there for nearly three months, during which he was subjected to psychological and physical torture, and was placed in Zagazig General Prison after being accused in two cases of several accusations, including joining a terrorist group and damaging a power transformers, he was sentenced in Case No. 141 of 2018 C A, in North Korea, to ten years and 15 years in the case 357 of 2018 A.D., all of Ismailia. He is now serving 25 years of imprisonment in Gamasa General Prison. He suffers from poor conditions of detention and medical neglect.
