- Summary
The victim was arrested on September 4, 2020, after posting videos in which she talked about being subjected to blackmail attempts and threats by Colonel Ahmed Shaaban, the official in charge of the media file at the Egyptian General Intelligence Service.
The victim was subjected to enforced disappearance, as she later appeared in a video clip posted on her Facebook account in which she claimed to disavow her previous statements, which human rights organizations considered a fabricated video recorded under duress.
The victim appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on September 21, 2020, where she was investigated and detained pending case No. 880 of 2020, on charges including joining a banned group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.
On February 7, 2021, a decision was issued to release her, but she was recycled and included in a new case No. 65 of 2021 with the same previous charges, and she remains detained pending case No. 65 of 2021. The victim suffers from health problems, including tumors, that require ongoing medical care, which was not available in her detention facility. In addition, there are reports that she was subjected to physical and psychological abuse during her detention.
