The victim was arrested on December 1, 2014, and forcibly disappeared for approximately two weeks before being brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in Case No. 103 of 2014. He was sentenced to five years in prison and transferred to Tora Reception Prison, and then to Tora Liman Prison.
After completing his five-year term, he was transferred to a detention facility at the Giza Police Station, and then to the Khalifa Police Station, pending his release. On December 29, 2019, he was transferred to the Helwan Police Station, whose officials denied detaining him; instead, they confirmed his release from the station, which never happened. News of him subsequently ceased.
