He was arrested on 14/10/2018 and subjected to enforced disappearance for 6 days. He was psychologically and physically tortured in the Sayeda Zainab police station. He was accused of joining a group founded in violation of the law and spreading false news in connection with Case No. 621 of 2018 limiting the security of his country, and many activists are imprisoned for it. It is noteworthy that Waleed is one of the founders of the April 6 Movement and a former member of the movement's political bureau. He obtained a release, but was not implemented. He is in pretrial detention pending Case 880 of 2020 State Security.
