The victim was arrested by Suez security forces on September 20, 2019, and appeared before the prosecution in Case No. 1338 and then Case No. 1413 of 2019, on charges of demonstrating and joining a banned group.

Months later, the victim was released, but he was not released. Rather, he was remanded in custody pending case No. 1056 of 2020, the Supreme State Security Department, and his pretrial detention is still being renewed until now.

While in prison, the victim contracted cancer in his back bones, became unable to move, and lost more than half of his weight. With the lack of health care and treatment for his condition, his health deteriorated day after day.
