The victim, 44 years old, worked as a security guard at the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in Mokattam before it was stormed and evacuated.

According to eyewitnesses, Cairo security forces arrested him on July 3, 2017, at a checkpoint in the Matariya district of Cairo. Since then, there has been no news of him and he has not been brought before any investigative authorities. He was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison in Military Case 123.
