The victim, a political activist, was arrested on May 4, 2020 from the vicinity of the Sayyida Zeinab area in Cairo. He was presented to the Supreme State Security Prosecution and investigated on May 11, 2020.
In October 2020, the Cairo Criminal Court, held at the Institute of Police Secretaries, considered the pretrial detention renewal session for the case, and decided to release the victim on her behalf. However, that decision was not implemented and was recycled pending Case No. 855 of 2020, Supreme State Security.
On September 9, 2022, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release “Rego” with guarantee of his residence.
During his imprisonment, he was subjected to a number of violations, most notably forced disappearance, rotation, torture, and deportation to Al-Qanater Prison from Tora Prison.
