Since the beginning of the Ghazl El Mahalla workers’ strike to demand a raise in the minimum wage for workers in the public business sector, security authorities have summoned many male and female workers, including three workers’ representatives. The three had attended one of the negotiation meetings as workers’ representatives, after which they were summoned to National Security and detained until now. They have been detained for 27 days. Last February they are:
- Sabah Ali Al-Qattan
- Muhammad Al-Attar
- Abdel Hamid Abu Amna
The three workers are still detained at the time of writing this statement despite the end of the strike that lasted for a week following the recent decision of the Business Sector Minister to raise the minimum income for workers in the public business sector to 6,000 pounds.
