- Summary
In response to the workers’ strike and their demands for their legitimate rights, the security services arrested nine workers and placed them in an unknown location after the end of the Ghazl El Mahalla strike, which lasted for a week and led to the Ministry of Public Business Sector issuing a decision to raise the minimum wage for workers in the sector to 6,000 pounds, similar to other workers. This is despite the government’s recognition of the legitimacy of the strike and its partial response to some of its demands. The whereabouts of the arrested workers are still unknown, and these workers include Hamdi Muhammad Abdel-Ati, Muhammad Muhammad Tawfiq, and Hussein Abu Jamra.
