- Summary
The victim died on Friday, October 31, after his health deteriorated and he was denied necessary medical care. He was a farmer from Wadi El-Rayan village in the Yusuf El-Siddiq district of Fayoum Governorate and had been detained for about a year and a half.
During his detention at the Yusuf El-Siddiq police station, he underwent open-heart surgery and stent replacement and was in dire need of continuous medical follow-up. However, Egyptian security authorities transferred him to the Minya prison without providing any appropriate medical care, which led to a serious decline in his health over the last four months, following his sentencing to 10 years in prison after a retrial in the case known in the media as the "Yusuf El-Siddiq police station raid" in 2013.
