The victim resides in the State of Bahrain. He was arrested there on August 2, 2023, in preparation for his handover to the Egyptian authorities. He was handed over on August 6 to Egypt, and he was not presented to any investigative body.

The victim was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment in the case known in the media as the dispersal of the Rabaa sit-in, and he has been legally residing in the State of Bahrain for nearly 8 years.
