The victim, born on December 24, 1996, was arrested at dawn on December 18, 2014, by the National Security Agency. He was subsequently brought before the Public Prosecution on December 23, 2014, following a five-day period of enforced disappearance.

The victim was detained in several facilities; he spent approximately six months at the Alexandria Security Directorate before being transferred to Borg El Arab Prison, where he remained from mid-2015 until late 2016. He was later transferred to Wadi El Natrun Prison—a move he described as punitive. Throughout his detention, he sat for his academic examinations under guard. He was ultimately sentenced to 25 years in prison in Case No. 48 of 2018 by the Alexandria Military Criminal Court.
