He was arrested on October 14, 2018, from his home and subjected to enforced disappearance until he appeared on Case No. 621 of 2018 State Security Restriction for his work as a lawyer on cases of political detainees. He obtained a release on August 23, 2020, but it was not implemented, and he was subjected to enforced disappearance and recirculation on Case No. 880 of 2020 limiting the security of his country and was accused of joining a terrorist group. It is reported that he was arrested before and was subjected to repeated detention and he is in pretrial detention so far, as the Cairo Criminal Court renewed his detention for 45 days pending the case.
