The victim was arrested on May 14, 2023 in connection with the Ultras Ahlawy case, after he wrote a post on the social networking site Facebook condemning the arrest of his colleague from inside the stadium during a match for the Al-Ahly team.

After that, he was summoned by his school administration in order to receive his seat number, then tied him up from behind, detained him inside an administrative office, and handed him over to the National Security men, to be forcibly hidden for 9 days, to appear before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on May 24, 2023 pending the case. No. 744 of 2023, known in the media as the “Ultras Ahlawy” case, with accusations, the most famous of which is joining a group established contrary to the provisions of the law.

Karim suffers from weakness inside his detention center as a result of his bean anemia, and the lack of food for his condition in prison, which led to his falling ill and his need for a blood transfusion.
