According to internal sources, on the morning of 6 September 2020, Dr. Amr suffered from chest pain which, he told the guards, was a sign of a heart attack. Despite repeated requests and calls to transfer him to the hospital, the prison’s administration disregarded such requests. He was left in pain, and It wasn’t until around 3:30 pm -when the symptoms got much worse- that the administration responded. He was taken out of his cell on foot and CFJ could not confirm if he actually reached the prison hospital as he was later declared dead. Official government reports said that he died a normal death owing to a sudden drop in blood circulation.
