The victim is a freelance journalist and television producer who previously served as managing editor of the magazines "Al-Tijariyyin" and "Al-Da'wa." He was also a former member of the Journalists Syndicate Council and served as deputy chairman of the Culture and Media Committee in the People's Assembly in 2012. He has been detained since September 6, 2013, in Badr Prison.
The victim received two prison sentences, one for 20 years and the other for life imprisonment, in connection with the case known in the media as the "Qalyub Road Blockade," as part of a series of politically motivated cases targeting media and public figures.
