Hisham Qasim, The Secretary General of the Free Movement, was arrested in August 2023 after Kamal Abu Aita, a member of the Presidential Pardon Committee, submitted a report to the Internet Investigations accusing the victim of insulting and defaming him through a post on the social networking site “Facebook.” The report was referred to the Public Prosecution Office of Sayyida Zeinab.
The first session of the trial was set for September 2, 2023, with his detention continuing until the trial was held on charges of insulting and defaming Kamal Abu Aita.
Members of the Investigation Force of Sayyida Zeinab Division filed a report against Qasim on charges of insulting, slandering, and assaulting a public employee, No. 5284 of 2023, Administrative of Sayyida Zeinab, on 8/21. The report was included in Case No. 5007 of 2023, which began with the report submitted by Kamal Abu Aita, a member of the Presidential Pardon Committee. Al Karama Party No. 8 Civil Affairs dated 8/3/2023.
