The victim was arrested on May 1, 2024 from the Ashmoun Center in Menoufia Governorate, and was subjected to enforced disappearance for 40 days before appearing on June 10, 2024, before the State Security Prosecution in Case No. 1568 of 2024 and accused of “joining a terrorist group.”

The victim works as a journalist on the Al-Youm news website, and his family says that the reason for his arrest is that his name was mentioned in an investigation with one of the journalists who was working on the Freedom and Justice website in 2012, during which time Juwaida was working in the same institution.
