In accordance with the Working Group’s methods of work, copies of the cases of Mohamed Monzer al Imam and Alaaeddin al-Rashi have been communicated to the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic. Clarification 123. On the basis of information previously provided by the Government, and on which the sources of the case have not made any observations requiring further consideration by the Working Group during the subsequent six-month period, the Working Group decided to clarify the case of Yasser Abdullah al Ayyaf, who is reportedly in detention. Clarification based on information from sources 124. On the basis of information provided by the Government and confirmed by the sources, the Working Group decided to clarify the cases of Abdelrahman Farhaneh and Samir Sfeir, who are currently in detention in a known location, and of Mohsen al-Korbi, who is currently at liberty. 125. In accordance with the Working Group’s methods of work, copies of the cases of Abdelrahman Farhaneh and Samir Sfeir have been communicated to the Governments of Jordan and Lebanon respectively. A copy of the case of Mohsen al-Korbi has also been communicated to the Governments of Qatar and Yemen. Information from sources 126. Sources provided updated information on three outstanding cases, but the information was considered insufficient to clarify the cases. Joint urgent appeal 127. On 27 August 2021, the Working Group transmitted, jointly with other special procedure mechanisms, an urgent appeal concerning the cases of Mohammed al-Shakhouri and Asaad Makki Shubbar, the latter a member of the Shia minority, who were sentenced to death following trials that did not respect due process guarantees and for crimes that do not appear to have met the “most serious crimes” threshold as required under international law.42 Observation 128. The Working Group recalls that, under article 10 (2) of the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, accurate information on the detention of such persons and their place or places of detention, including transfers, should be made promptly available to their family members, their counsel or to any other persons having a legitimate interest in the information unless a wish to the contrary has been manifested by the persons concerned. Sri Lanka Standard procedure 129. Under its standard procedure, the Working Group transmitted one case to the Government, concerning Pritheepan Francis, who allegedly disappeared in April 2017 in Colombo. It is believed that Mr. Francis was abducted by members of the Sri Lankan military intelligence services in retaliation against his brother, who was suspected of cooperating with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. 42 20 See SAU 10/2021.
