Application of the six-month rule 43. The Government provided information, on the basis of which the Working Group decided to apply the six-month rule to one case, concerning Abdulaziz Gamal Metwally Ibrahim. Clarification based on information from the Government 44. On the basis of information previously provided by the Government, the Working Group decided to clarify the cases of Hasan Gouda, who has been released from detention, and of Abdelfattah Soliman and Mostafa Farag, who are currently in detention in a known location. Information from the Government 45. On 19 August 2021, the Government transmitted information concerning seven cases, but the information was considered insufficient to clarify the cases. Clarification based on information from sources 46. On the basis of information previously provided by the Government and confirmed by sources, the Working Group decided to clarify three cases, concerning Abdel Moneam Ashraf Abdel Moneam Soleiman, Abdul Rahman Ismael Ibrahim Hassan and Abdul Rahman Ismael Ibrahim Hassan. Information from sources 47. Sources provided information on one outstanding case, but the information was considered insufficient to clarify the case. Duplicate 48. The Working Group found that the case of Ahmed Salah Ahmed Mohamed had been registered twice and decided to delete the duplicate. The original case remains unresolved. Joint urgent appeals 49. On 16 July 2021, the Working Group transmitted, jointly with other special procedure mechanisms, an urgent appeal concerning the reportedly imminent execution of 12 individuals following a mass trial that failed to meet due process and fair trial standards and was marred by allegations of enforced disappearances, torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment and arbitrary detention.17 50. On 11 August 2021, the Working Group transmitted, jointly with other special procedure mechanisms, an urgent appeal concerning the alleged imminent execution of Mahmoud Ebada Abdelmaqsod Eid, who had been sentenced to death following a trial that did not meet due process guarantees, including in terms of the use as evidence of a confession obtained under torture.18 Joint allegation letters 51. On 16 June 2021, the Working Group transmitted, jointly with other special procedure mechanisms, an allegation letter concerning the arbitrary detention of 12 human rights defenders under investigation for the alleged commission of crimes carrying potentially lengthy prison sentences and for related allegations of grave ill-treatment and poor conditions 17 18 See EGY 7/2021.
