On 31 May 2021, the Working Group transmitted, jointly with other special procedure mechanisms, an allegation letter concerning the decision of the official Organization of the Behesht Zahra to not allow members of the Baha’i faith to bury their dead in new gravesites at Golestan Javid cemetery in Tehran.27 71. On 23 July 2021, the Government provided a reply to the joint allegation letter sent on 31 May 2021. Jordan Information from the Government 72. On 1 July 2021, the Government transmitted information concerning two cases, but the information was considered insufficient to clarify the cases. 73. In accordance with the Working Group’s methods of work, copies of the cases of Hassan Adam Ali and Jotiar Yahia Latif al-Salihi have been communicated to the Governments of Iraq and the Sudan respectively. Iraq Observation 74. The Working Group welcomes the report of the Iraqi National Central Committee on cases of enforced disappearance submitted by the Government on 11 May 2021, which includes the measures taken by the Government to address all the cases registered by the Working Group. The Working Group requests additional information from the Government on the strategic policy adopted to actively search for disappeared persons and on the measures taken to secure the mass graves and to provide redress and compensation to the families of the victims. Kenya Clarification based on information from sources 75. On the basis of information provided by sources, the Working Group decided to register the case of Selahaddin Gülen under the records of Turkey. According to the information received, Mr. Gülen was forcibly transferred from Kenya to Turkey, where he is currently in detention. Since his whereabouts are presently known, the Working Group decided to clarify the case. Observation 76. In reference to the case of Mr. Gülen, the Working Group urges the Kenyan authorities to launch an independent, impartial and effective investigation into his enforced disappearance and forcible transfer in order to shed light on the circumstances of the violations, bring perpetrators to justice and provide Mr. Gülen and his family with an effective remedy. The Kenyan authorities are also urged to take all measures necessary to prevent similar cases from occurring in the future. 26 27 IRN 24/2021.
