The victim was arrested on September 26, 2019, and was subjected to investigation before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in Case No. 1175 of 2018, Supreme State Security Prosecution, on charges most notably (spreading false news and incitement against the state), and he has been detained in pretrial detention until now.

The victim's imprisonment exceeded 4 and a half years pending the same case, despite his lawyer submitting several requests to the Public Prosecutor demanding his release, the last of which was on May 9, 2024, but it was not heeded, so the Cairo Criminal Court continued to issue decisions to extend pretrial detention. This is a clear violation of the law.
