The victim was arrested on June 25, 2019, and was investigated before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in connection with Case No. 930 of 2019, known as the “Hope Cell” case.

The prosecution charged the victim with: committing crimes of participating with a group established contrary to the provisions of the law whose purpose is to call for the suspension of the provisions of the Constitution and the law, prevent state institutions and public authorities from carrying out their work, and deliberately publish false news, information, and data about the political and economic conditions in the country with the intention of disturbing the peace. public and undermine confidence in state institutions.

In July 2019, the Attorney General, Counselor Nabil Ahmed Sadiq, issued Decision No. 35 to seize the funds of those accused in the “Hope Cell” case and prevent them from traveling outside the country, to include 85 defendants in the case, and 19 companies and economic entities.
